Jacquelin Copeland wife, mother of twin boys, actress, entrepreneur, songwriter, singer, ordained elder and teacher is a graduate of The College of Saint Elizabeth where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Drama and Oral Interpretation of Literature and a minor inBusiness Management. She receivede her Masters degree in Biblical Studies at Nyack Alliance Theological Seminary May 2021. In 2006, Mrs. Copeland began her career in education at Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, NJ. She later taught an organizational communications class at Career Works in Newark NJ.
Currently, she is an educator at Rock Christian Academy Performing Arts School in Newark, NJ, teaching classes to K-8 th grade students, where her education in Fine Arts is utilized and helping children discover their own gifts and talents to serve God, while also equipping them with education for success in high school and beyond. Jacquelin Copeland has aspired and continues to aspire as others invested in her at a young age, to invest in the youth of our tomorrow. She has lived by the quote her mom told her at a young age, “The time you spend complaining about it you could be doing it!” In other words there is no time for complaining, but rather only action towards the goal. You can and you will always, with the help of God!
Darien Veal brings a unique blend of business strategy, educational leadership, and operational expertise to Rock CAPA. As Head of Academic Operations, he oversees the daily execution, compliance, technology integration, and continuous improvement of the academy’s academic and instructional programs.
Darien holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Human Services and Sociology from Lincoln University and an MBA from Eastern University, where he is also pursuing graduate-level studies in Education. His background in organizational strategy, digital infrastructure, workflow optimization, and human services allows him to develop efficient systems that support both educators and students.

Takiyiia Grundy holds a Bachelors degree in Theatre Arts and has a diverse background inthe performing arts, with experience as both an actress and stage manager. Her work on stage and behind the scenes has strengthened her skills in production coordination, creative collaboration, and bringing theatrical performances to life. Takiyiia is excited to be a part of the Rockcapa team as a Theatre Production Specialist, where she looks forward to applying her knowledge, passion, and dedication to support high-quality productions and engaging artistic experiences. Beyond the theatre, Takiyiia is an avid reader and music enthusiast who enjoys exploring new stories, ideas, and sounds that inspire both her personal and professional life.
A board-certified music therapist, Ms. Carter has experience in teaching folks with special needs, either through piano or flute lessons, or providing music therapy sessions to work on specific client goals. Elise has experience working with individuals who have cognitive or physical disabilities, adults as well as children. She has worked with Camp Acorn in Allendale, New Jersey, doing group music therapy for their summer camp and through bi-weekly groups with their year long Day-Hab group. Ms. Carter provides group music therapy to special needs students in person and through Zoom with her organizaiotn Zukis Sister's, is dedicated to improving the lives of others through the Arts.
It is their love for service and hosptality that brings this couple to the students of Rock CAPA each day with snack and lunch. Our students break bread, learn table etiquette, and fellowship daily toghether at meal time. Student's help plan and prepare weekly menus as an elective and our 8-12th grade students he opportunity to intern with Maxine's Cuisine! for school credit (and compensation)!
Mr. Smith is a husband, father, grandfather, and gospel recording artist. Born in Alabama and raised in Plainfield, NJ, God has allowed Mr. Smith to enjoy a musical career than spans over 45 years! He has been blessed to spead the Gospel through music as a member of The Sons of Emanuel, The Mighty Stars, The Baldwin Spiritualir, Tear Drops of Joy, and the Smith Singers, to name a few. Mr. Smith says "God sent me beautiful flowers" of his Rock CAPA students who are learning to compose and perform original songs under his musical instruction and mentorship.
Khetiwe Khumalo,
Vocal Teacher, and Violin Instructor
Khetiwe is a professional singer and violinist blessed to grace stages including Lincoln Center, the Apollo, and Carnegie Hall.
Early on, she demonstrated her love for singing and began singing in church. This opened the door for her to sing background, eventually leading to her church and her music. She simultaneously served as a choir director and music director over the teen music ministry at her local church.
Ms. Khumalo became a vocal teacher in high school. This formal instruction sparked a passion for understanding vocal technique. Since then, she has committed to enriching her understanding of vocals. This passion opened up a natural doorway to instructing others. She is now still a full-time performer, songwriter, and vocal instructor.
